My WHY and WHY You Need This...
My story isn't unlike many of yours... in 2007 I resigned from my great paying corporate gig as a Technology Manager and started my first education and training center. You see, I'd been in the people development business since 1999, while still working my full-time job, but was ready for a change. But, I didn't quite know how to make the transition from a 9 to 5 to become a full time business owner, and frankly, I was still a little afraid. I knew if I launched out in the right time, God would provide all that I needed to get started and sustain me along the way.
I shared my vision to launch a technology training center with my president, at the time I was with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, and he gave me his blessing. He had the corporate warehouse provide me all the furniture, computers and office equipment I needed for the facility, and even gave me some seed money to get going. And, after sharing my vision with several colleagues and coworkers a dozen of them volunteered to teach at the center.
A local businessman heard about my vision to help underprivileged people and to train them in technology to get better jobs. He knew I had been in the people development business since 2000 and had a good reputation for delivering on my promises to change people's lives. So he offered me an amazing vacant property he had for my new operations, rent free for the first year. With seed money, all the furnishings and equipment, and dozens of volunteers I had no more excuses! I could remain frozen by my imagined fear, doubt, and insecurities... Or I could go all in now…I had been dreaming of this opportunity for so many years, So, instead of being paralyzed by fear and limiting beliefs of failure or fear of success, I connected to a burning desire inside of me to walk in my purpose and help people on a larger scale.
I publicly declared that I was a trainer, mentor and educator and started documenting my process of building my business from the ground up and got busy serving people. I stumbled... I made mistakes... Some would even say I failed... Yet, I was doing it! It was no longer a dream! It was now reality!
